How to use the VOLVO production tables

Year

Identifies the model year, not the production year. For example the 1963 model was produced from August 1962 to July 1963. This column will indicate 1963 even if the production started in August 1962. This is the current industry standard but VOLVO didn't follow this rule closely before 1960.

Prod ID

A letter identifying the production batch or simply the model year from 1961. For example the 1963 544 production batch is identified by a "C". Before 1961 VOLVO would sometimes sell the same production batch for 2 or 3 years. For example the same "A" batch of 444 was sold from 1948 to 1950 without any changes.

Chassis

Identifies if the chassis is a 2 door, 4 door or station wagon.

From Chassis

The chassis number of the first car from that production batch. The chassis number is also called the body number. Note that the chassis numbers for the 444 and 544 are consecutive. VOLVO didn't reset the number to zero when the 544 started. This is the same for the 445 and 210 chassis numbers.

Number built

The number of cars produced in that batch.

Emblem

The emblem fixed to the exterior of the car.

Engines

The list of engines available.

Transmission

The list of transmissions available
